Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Rechargeable Smart Tag work?
It connects to Apple Find My, the same network that powers AirTag. Hold it near your iPhone, tap Connect, and it pairs in seconds. From then on you can see your keys on the map and ring it to find them. No new app, no subscription, no monthly fee.
How long does the battery last?
Roughly a year of everyday use per charge. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours over USB-C.
Do I need to charge it before first use?
We recommend a full charge before pairing, so you're starting from a known baseline for that ~1 year estimate.
Is it water-resistant?
It's rated IP65 for rain, splashes and dust — cover the USB-C port with the included silicone plug when it's really coming down. It isn't built for swimming or the washing machine.
Will I get notified if I leave it behind?
Apple's Find My network can notify you when a known item is left behind, the same way it works for other Find My accessories.
Does it work with Android?
Not currently — it's built for Apple's Find My network, so you'll need an iPhone or iPad.
Can I put it on my dog's collar?
Yes, you can, and many people do. The tag updates whenever a nearby Apple device detects it, so it works best in populated areas. In more rural locations, updates may be less frequent, meaning you’ll see where your dog was last detected rather than its exact live location.
What's in the box?
Your Smart Tag, precharged and ready to use, a silicone port plug, and a keyring.
Can my partner find them too?
Yes. Share access in Find My with up to five people — handy for shared house keys or a spare set at your parents'.
Is certification confirmed?
Yes. The Rechargeable Smart Tag is MFi certified, officially licensed by Apple and built to Find My network requirements.

Bought the tag along with other spotminders products and very impressed with the warning you get when you leave the tag (bag) somewhere and walk away
I am so happy to have received my Spotminders - Smart Tags, Tracking Cards, Wireless Charger and Passport Cover (surprise gift). Looking forward to telling others about Spotminders and ordering more of these quality items. Easy to set up and beautifully packaged.
It took a couple tries to set-up, but I believe it was due to needing to add a pin number on my iphone, plus some other security updates.
Both the card and tag were easy to set up and pair the my iPhone. So far both are working as ds described, no chance yet to test the card in a suitcase transiting international airports.
Had a problem with the original delivery but I was contacted by Michael at spotminders. After some pictures and an explanation of the mixup Michael resent my original order. Everything was handled professionally and promptly. My replacement arrived just in time for vacation. Thank you Spotminders and Michael for everything. I couldn’t be happier with your products and customer service. Sincerely Traveling Ed
It’s small and easy to attach not as bulky as an AirTag . Works flawlessly with Apple find me
Easy to set up, small and not too bulky
Great product. I now know where my keys are All of the time.
Sturdy tags, good size for carrying in pockets etc, extremely easy to setup and I have used them for all the important bundles on key rings. Already helped me a couple of times - I lose track of things even at home sometimes, so the DualFind feature of audible and light alerts helps locate things in the dark. Best Smart Tags I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
I put the spotminders on my apartment key fob and have used it twice to find the fob in my apartment. It’s great!
I have multiple Sportminders products. This new one is awesome. The charge lasts up to a year. I love the lighted function as well. It was incredibly easy to set up.
Awesome well made 👍
Better than Apple Air Tag
Love the new key fob. So far I haven’t misplaced the keys so I haven’t had to use it. But I have tried it out and having the light on the fob is a huge benefit. Still wish the sound it makes was a little louder as I am hearing impaired and wear Hearing Aids. Will still give it a five out of Five! Thank you spotminders😀
I am happy to use Spotminder products as they don’t have a battery that needs to be replaced and I won’t have to pay a monthly fee. I love that I can use Find My on my cellphone.
I currently own 9 Spotminder tracking cards and 3 key tabs, and I absolutely love them! Recently, I had one of my cars in a repair shop in another state, and I was able to see exactly where my car was located. That alone gave me tremendous peace of mind. The key tabs have also come to my rescue more than once, helping me find my keys when I’m running late for work! These devices are incredibly useful, easy to use, and have already proven their value to me. I highly recommend Spotminder products.
Past perfect in mijn fiets 🚲 tussen de batterij en zo kan ik hem volgen bij eventuele diefstal.
Love this tracker ! The light feature and beeping is perfect way to find your keys.
Another great product!
easy to setup. I like I can USB-c recharge. Very NICE that the recharge port has a rubber plug to protect the port. That way lent do not get in from my pocket ... Nice touch . Not tested yet but hope it gives me a warning when battery is running low... I have lost contract to one tracker that way (the search contuses) Yes, I would buy again
Does exactly what I need it to do. Love the fact that it lights up in addition to playing a sound.
It just took a long time for me to receive it, but it was very easy to set up and it’s perfect as I have three other SpotMinder cards.
Love these. Have placed them to my car keys. So far they are tracking great. I made one change. I replaced the teeny tiny charging port dust cover with a cover that sticks to device so doesn’t get lost.
I’ve bought a bunch of these for my keys and my wife’s as well. Purchased the Pro cards and originals for placing in my luggage when traveling. The battery life is awesome and set up is beyond easy. Will be buying more to give as gifts this holiday.
Super happy with this product from Spotminders. Was very easy to set up and works flawlessly with my iPhone 17 Pro
I originally bought three Spotminder cards to place in suitcases and wallet. When the key tags were released I bought three in order put on keys.
Love it. Keep adding good products.
A family member has Alzheimer’s. I placed a smart card in her purse and phone wallet and a tag on her keys. I know where her important items are and probably where she is.
It is the perfect size and love that it has sound and lights up
Love the Smart Tag Keys! Very easy to set up, affordable, great to have for piece of mind and fits in well with my Spotminders Tracker Cards and Passport Air covers 😁Everything went smoothly with purchase and delivery and the company communicates well 👍
Good value for the price, easy and quick to activate. Perfect fit for any key ring.
We’ve really liked the cards (have them in our luggage, our vehicles, wallet, purse), and the passport cover and the key fob was a “no-brainer”. More convenient than the air tags (constantly changing batteries). Likely gets few more of these key fobs for backpacks, etc.. The only “beef” I have is with the cheesy/gimmicky advertising *eyeroll*. This is an excellent product!
I think this is one of your best ideas! I’m constantly losing my keys. I now own luggage tags, key tags, and my whole family has cards in their billfolds. The only problem I had was, I think mine was shipped without the ring to attach it. I had to use a small one that I already had.
Great product. Been a long time supporter. Your product is amazing and easy to setup and is very reliable. I would and have recommended this product. Keep up the great work
Love it, now my dogs have the same Security as my wallet, thank you. Kind regards Anders Petersson
🎁 A fantastic gift for my darling, who keeps on loosing her keys… 🤫 But not anymore!!! 🥳
I have all the Spotminders trackers, passport holders, key tracker etc and have bought them for my bride and the kids. Much better that the AirTags that I used to use. The charge lasts much much longer and no batteries needed.
I have gone away from the Apple air tags and for about 18 months have used Spotminders. The tracking cards both the Pro and regular were my first Spotminders purchases and I have never looked back. My wife and I use them in our wallets, suitcases, backpacks and the glove compartment in our car in the event it gets stolen. I liked them so much I have given cards to our adult children and several friends and all of them love the tracking capability. I recently expanded my Spotminders products adding passport folders and just this past week added the key fob locator. This recent addition is really cool as in one side of the fob is a light that flashes when you are playing a sound to locate the device. This is very helpful when your keys may be in a darkened room or if they fell on the floor. I highly recommend all of these Spotminders products!
I’m very pleased that my dogs have the same security as my wallet, thank you. Better safe than sorry 👍
Great new product from Spotminders. At first I was concerned it would be too bulky for my electronic key fob and a couple of other keys. Surprisingly I don't even know it's there. Best off is the flashing light when I need to find them, this is a nice feature.
