Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Rechargeable Smart Tag work?
It connects to Apple Find My, the same network that powers AirTag. Hold it near your iPhone, tap Connect, and it pairs in seconds. From then on you can see your keys on the map and ring it to find them. No new app, no subscription, no monthly fee.
How long does the battery last?
Roughly a year of everyday use per charge. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours over USB-C.
Do I need to charge it before first use?
We recommend a full charge before pairing, so you're starting from a known baseline for that ~1 year estimate.
Is it water-resistant?
It's rated IP65 for rain, splashes and dust — cover the USB-C port with the included silicone plug when it's really coming down. It isn't built for swimming or the washing machine.
Will I get notified if I leave it behind?
Apple's Find My network can notify you when a known item is left behind, the same way it works for other Find My accessories.
Does it work with Android?
Not currently — it's built for Apple's Find My network, so you'll need an iPhone or iPad.
Can I put it on my dog's collar?
Yes, you can, and many people do. The tag updates whenever a nearby Apple device detects it, so it works best in populated areas. In more rural locations, updates may be less frequent, meaning you’ll see where your dog was last detected rather than its exact live location.
What's in the box?
Your Smart Tag, precharged and ready to use, a silicone port plug, and a keyring.
Can my partner find them too?
Yes. Share access in Find My with up to five people — handy for shared house keys or a spare set at your parents'.
Is certification confirmed?
Yes. The Rechargeable Smart Tag is MFi certified, officially licensed by Apple and built to Find My network requirements.

Bought the tag along with other spotminders products and very impressed with the warning you get when you leave the tag (bag) somewhere and walk away
I am so happy to have received my Spotminders - Smart Tags, Tracking Cards, Wireless Charger and Passport Cover (surprise gift). Looking forward to telling others about Spotminders and ordering more of these quality items. Easy to set up and beautifully packaged.
It took a couple tries to set-up, but I believe it was due to needing to add a pin number on my iphone, plus some other security updates.
Both the card and tag were easy to set up and pair the my iPhone. So far both are working as ds described, no chance yet to test the card in a suitcase transiting international airports.
Had a problem with the original delivery but I was contacted by Michael at spotminders. After some pictures and an explanation of the mixup Michael resent my original order. Everything was handled professionally and promptly. My replacement arrived just in time for vacation. Thank you Spotminders and Michael for everything. I couldn’t be happier with your products and customer service. Sincerely Traveling Ed
It’s small and easy to attach not as bulky as an AirTag . Works flawlessly with Apple find me
Easy to set up, small and not too bulky
You could deliver wgat I paid for. It’s been weeks since I placed my order . I emailed you for a status and received no reply. The tracking says it’s on its way. It said the same thing for weeks . very disappointed. I would cancel, but then I would have to return everything at my inconvenience
The three tags I ordered took about a month to arrive even through it was supposed to be under a week. Border problems? Over all great tags and easy to set up. Highly worth the wait if anyone experiences that delay.
My cat doesn’t even know it’s on his collar, love the light when he’s outside in the dark !
Happy to my purchase, I take picture of one of car keys. That key is for my pickup truck that I always miss place at work. Now it’s easy.to find it, thank you spotminder now you make my life getting easy. I give you guys 10 in scale of 10 . Thank you again.
Yes I keep losing my eye glasses and my capricious mind could not resist this opportunity . Great products for sure but my version of an application is not serious
I had to buy a QR reader which cost $80 a year. I tried to use it to start up everything and it didn’t work. It was supposed to register the the spot Miner for my keychain, but it went nowhere. I’ll keep trying.
Very easy to set up
Took awhile to arrive but they were simple to setup and easy to use.
Great product !! 🚒
I purchased 5 taps. The first one I tried to setup didn’t work - it doesn’t beep. I’ve tried getting help from Spotminder’s’ customer service, but they don’t respond. The second tap I tried to setup works perfectly. If their customer service would have been better in responding, then my review of the tap would have been better.
So far, I really enjoy the peace of mind the spotminder brings to me.
Like everything else you have developed… it in the winner circle!!!! Now let’s see you develop a rechargeable pet tag!
Misplaced my keys but found them quickly
Bought 3 2 free. Easy set up. I have used or given away all 5. I bought 5 cards as well. I have spent a small fortune on apple Air Tags and accessories. I have yet to replace a battery and getting it reprogrammed to work. How about a big Christmas bundle for Keys I gave out air tags to my kids and grandkids several years ago, No one is using them now. Batteries died.
The shipping of my tag took over a month. Shipping from California to Oregon? How was that possible. The smart tracking tag is an amazing invention.
I have used the card-format Spotminders for well over a year. It was a pleasure to find the Spotminders in a key-fob format! I put one on each of our Subaru's keyrings.
My smart tag is great.!. Being a busy person traveling much, I set my keys down a lot to attend to other things and I sometimes forget where they are. Now I just open the find my app and in seconds I find them.! No more endless searching,.. it’s awesome
Delivery took its time, but I'm thrilled with this new tracker. Sturdy and robust. Great new acquisition.
I love all my Spotminder devices! I have a couple of tracking cards, a passport holder and now a tag for my keys. Simple to set up and add to FindMy. Good peace of mind knowing where my things are particularly when I travel but also for just everyday use. They make a great gift too
Previously used the battery powered smart tag by Spotminders that required replacing the battery. The rechargeable smart tag has a much longer life and can be recharged for years in 1.5 hours.
Easy to set up and easy to find my keys. Got a couple more for gifts!
Easy to setup.
Now I have a peace of mind and nothing to worry whenever I misplaced my car key Fob because with the Spotminder, I could easily locate it.
Fácil de programar y rastrear
I purchased three Smart Tags. One for each of my dogs, and one for my keys. As a dog rescue volunteer, it is heartbreaking to see lost dogs with no identification. Even a microchip doesn’t solve the problem, if the phone number has changed. SmartTag responding by phone is genius. The long charge of up to a year is also incredible. I attached the tags to their collars, knowing they are very sturdy.
So the pretty perfect shape and design are equal to the ease at which making the keys show up just before your late for important events. They look cool, and save your thought process the loss of focus. I’m setting my wife up and then I’m purchasing more cards for other important items we don’t want to be moving !!
Very say setup, tested it, no problems locating my keys
Good looking. Looks better than the AirTag I was using. Wish the “lost signal” was louder but still a good finder.
I love my spotminder. It has a louder chime then an Airtag, and has a built-in metal holder that wont break!
Amazing - without Batterie!! Easy to use with Tracking App „Find me“
So easy to setup the QR code was so convenient and connecting was quick and super easy. Great to always know where the keys are the sound function with light so great when I left them on the couch. Awesome product everyone should have one of these.
Exelent product.
Opened the box and scanned the QR Code and setup in less than one minute. I got three and two are for gifts!
